About

My name is Chris Wong.  I was born, raised, and still live in Port Moody, a suburb of Vancouver, BC.  My father and my uncles helped get me started in woodworking at an early age.

About Flair Woodworks

After nine years of woodworking as a hobby, I opened Flair Woodworks in 2008 to produce original woodwork out of my shop in Port Moody, British Columbia.

The primary focus of Flair Woodworks is to design and produce sculptural woodwork, which includes furniture, boxes, and carvings.

About My Work

I do my best work when I am inspired and I draw a lot of inspiration from my environment, including the materials with which I work. Often, I find one piece of wood with extraordinary colour or figure and will use it as the focal point in the project. Adapting a design to work with the wood, rather than forcing the wood to conform to the design is, to me, what separates the hand-crafted from the mass-produced.

About My Blog

I update my blog regularly, often multiple times per week.  Sometimes I share what I am working on in the shop or a piece that I find inspiring.  Because I am constantly learning and trying to improve myself, my past posts may or may not reflect my current position.

I read every comment posted and will do my best to answer any questions you may have.

  4. Thanks for the idea. I’d love to live in British Colombia. It’s beautiful. Of course new tools would be awesome, but I’ll settle just seeing what you make. Thanks for sharing!

I would be delighted if you left a comment!
