As a table base, it really looks like the weight of a table would rip apart those tiny-looking little joints on the bottoms. What’s going on to stop that from happening?

I inserted floating tenons in the mitres, which gives it an incredible amount of strength. Have you seen Hank Holzer’s Akira Dining Chair?
