Thanks for the comment. I forged the iron strap hinges and handles. Your last sentence has me thinking… what would a chest made from turned components look like?

Yew isn’t the easiest thing to work with – soft when you don’t want it to be, stringy and tough when you don’t want it to be. I like how you have incorporated the defects into the piece.
We have a 2 x 4 contest every year at our WW Guild – 2 x 4 x 8 feet softwood is the material limit – while the less adventurous use spruce, hemlock, cedar, I have used yew the last 4 years and learned its quirks and idiosyncrasies to some degree – I salute the treasure chest!
