While in Phoenix, Arizona, I visited Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home, Taliesin West. Tours of the property are offered daily and the grounds also serve as a school for the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. At the school, the philosophy is simply:
Learn by doing.

I love this one.
I went to school at Cal Poly SLO and that is their motto also. We sure had a lot of lab classes but it is an incredible school. Had another instructor who said, from a book, you can learn about something but until you actually use the knowledge it is not part of you.
Rob,
I agree with what the instructor said. One of the downsides to the amount of information available to us (on any topic), is that it is easy to spend too much time learning by reading and watching and not enough doing..

Another saying in the same vein…
I hear, I forget
I see, I remember
I do, I understand…
A little longer but still a good one…
Thanks for all your quotes…
Larry,
I find that to be quite accurate and I will add it to the Quotables page. The quote by Confucius is:
Chris
I figured you would know who wrote it…
See one. Do one. Repeat as necessary.
